Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Spills
HAZMAT (hazardous material) spills or incidences can cause death, injury, and illness. They can occur during production, storage, transportation, and use of any hazardous material. They are most likely to affect you if you live or work within one mile of a railroad, freeway or hazardous cargo (HC) route, hazardous material production or storage facility. To identify HC routes, look for square signs which say HC or HC with a line through it indicating legal routes through a city when carrying hazardous cargo.
